LG launches new range of 3D Smart TVs

The 2013 series of LG Cinema Screen 3D Smart TV was launched at Shangri-La’s Barr al Jissah Resort and Spa on Monday.

Speaking about the new models, Ajay Chopra, the managing director of OTE, the distributor of LG products in Oman, said, “LG has been a recognised brand and with our new launch we will strengthen our market share in smart television.”

The new television series includes local-content apps and is equipped with new features such as Tag On, Time Machine as well as Magic Remote, which can be used to give gesture and voice-based commands.

It can be connected with external devices including smartphones and laptops, and is capable of reading all kinds of files.

The series is priced between RO179 and RO400.

LG launches 84-inch Ultra HD TV

MUSCAT — LG Electronics (LG) and OTE Group have launched the world’s first 84-inch Ultra HD TV in the Oman market. LG’s newest product was unveiled at Lulu hypermarket, Bausher in the presence of officials from LG, OTE Group and Lulu.
LG’s Ultra HD TV is the company’s response to growing consumer demand for larger, more immersive home TVs with greater functionality. The Ultra HD TV introduces a number of new smart features with the aim of providing greater convenience and simpler interaction.
“The 4K display market is still in its infancy but it was important for LG to claim a stake in this space,” said James Kim, TV Business Head of LG Electronics Gulf FZE, “LG’s Ultra HD TV represents a whole new level of home viewing experience because it offers every advanced technology we currently have to offer.” “LG continues to be at the forefront of industry innovation and OTE Group ensures that customers in Oman get a wide range of prompt, effective and high quality sales after-sales service experience”, said Mr Ajay Chopra, Managing Director, OTE Group of Companies.
LG Ultra HD TV boasts astonishing picture quality with 8 million pixels per frame, four times the resolution (3840×2160) of existing Full HD TV panels, due in large part to LG’s advanced Triple XD Engine. The additional Resolution Upscaler Plus allows images from external sources such as hard drives and user-generated content websites to be rendered in higher detail.
Bringing this exciting new experience to the 3D entertainment arena, LG has equipped its Ultra HD TV with Cinema 3D technology to ensure the impressively large display provides the most immersive viewing experience possible. 3D Depth Control allows viewers to fine-tune the “distance” between near and far objects on the screen for a custom 3D experience. The 3D sound zooming feature then analyses the on-screen objects to generate sound according to their location and movement.
LG’s Ultra HD TV also features a 2.2 speaker system consisting of two 10W speakers and two 15W woofers, which reinforce the sound to produce a lush audio experience that perfectly complements the extraordinary visuals produced by the massive screen, creating a theater-like experience in the home.

Suhail Bahwan inks deal with Freezone Sohar

Muscat: An important step was taken in the further development of Freezone Sohar yesterday by the signing of an agreement with Suhail Bahwan Automotive and OTE to develop a logistics park of 50 hactres  to accommodate the activities of these companies.

Sultan Al Habsi, Chairman of Freezone Sohar, and Jamal Aziz, CEO of Freezone Sohar signed the agreement with Sheikh Ahmed Suhail Bahwan, Chairman of SBA and Othman Suhail Bahwan al Mukhaini, Shareholder of OTE in the SIPC admin building. The signing was witnessed by the visiting mayor of Rotterdam who represents the Port of Rotterdam as the JV partner with the Government of Oman in Port and Freezone Sohar. 

The agreement signed centralises the automotive industries of SBA (dealer for, amongst others, Nissan, BMW, Renault) and OTE (dealer for, amongst others, Hyundai) in Sohar and starts establishing Sohar as the logistical hub for local and regional distribution of cars, spare parts and other automotive related activities.

Besides that, OTE will utilise the opportunities of the commercial centre of the Batinah region to establish their distribution centre for electronic appliances and is studying the consolidation of other activities in the same area.

OTE, ACDelco hold meet for customers

OTE Group and ACDelco recently conducted a customer meet for their institutional customers. This meet was held to celebrate the OTE Group’s success in ACDelco market share enhancement and to thank the customers who have made it happen. 

Officials from ACDelco and General Motors who presided over the event included Shabeer Harris – ACDelco area manager; Bilal Jabak – CSBM, GM Middle East and Shyam Prasad, product development manager; ACDelco. From the OTE Group, officials included C Jayaraman, general manager, parts sales and Shaji Jacob, divisional manager – procurement.

This meet not only facilitated interaction between ACDELCO officials, OTE team and its institutional customers, it also provided insight on the enhanced applications, usage, features and benefits of ACDelco products to the customers.

Customers who continue to actively patronise ACDelco products were felicitated and awards were also presented in recognition of their contribution, which led to the robust growth of ACDelco products in the last three years.

Shabeer Harris appreciated the efforts of OTE team and is business partners for making ACDelco a leading and most sought after after-sales-market brand in Oman. He also reaffirmed the commitment of ACDelco to work continuously on developing new products and services to meet the growing demand of the market.

An interesting and detailed presentation on the enhanced applications usage, features and benefit analysis of ACDelco products – lubricants, coolants, conventional batteries, maintenance free batteries, wiper blades, car care products – was made by Shyam Prasad.

ACDelco AC refrigerant gas, a new product launch and ‘ACDelco Tyre Repair Kit’ a new concept product that are being introduced in the Oman market were showcased to the customers and these new products generated good interest amongst the customers.
